China Mobile to launch TD-SCDMA devices in May – Telecompaper

The Chinese Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT) has pursued TD-SCDMA (Time Division – Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access) for quite sometime now. One of the main (likely) reasons for this is to avoid huge patent fees for other Western 3G technologies.

China Mobile was granted a TD-SCDMA license in January 2009 and the company has announced plans to launch compatible handsets (from LG, STE and Yulong) in the market in May.
