GM shows Smartphone app for the Chevrolet Volt

During a presentation at the Las Vegas motor show, General Motors mentioned a Smartphone app for the Chevrolet Volt.

The app (currently planned for the iPhone and Blackberry), will allow users to control the time and duration of charge when connected to a charging station.

The application could soon be expanded to include other functions, like popping the trunk, unlocking the doors, starting the car, or hitting the panic alarm remotely from the Smartphone.
