US: Nissan LEAF to get web-based remote control application

Nissan has opened reservations for the Nissan LEAF on May 15 to the general public.

Through the Nissan LEAF website via, customers can create an account, configure his or her vehicle, and answer questions to complete a driving profile.

Nissan will provide individual updates for their reservations by June 30. Reservations are limited to one per household.

Although the final specs of the interior have not been announced yet, Nissan has said that the LEAF will get the following infotainment features:

– Navigation
– Audio AM, FM, CD (w/ WMA/MP3 capability)
– USB interface for iPods and other MP3 players
– Bluetooth connectivity

In addition, Nissan is working on a web-based (browser-based) application for providing remote control features. Users will be able to control the car’s functions and charging from any computer or internet-enabled phone.
