Audi’s next-gen infotainment system to use QNX platform

QNX Software Systems has announced that Audi has chosen the QNX Neutrino operating system as the software platform for Audi’s next-generation high-end infotainment system.

The new infotainment system will leverage several QNX technologies, including the QNX multimedia suite, which provides seamless integration with smartphones, media players, USB drives, and other mobile devices.

QNX Software Systems already provides the operating system and multimedia middleware for Audi’s MMI System, including the new MMI generation in the 2010 Audi A8, the first automotive system to provide 3D navigation powered by Google Earth.

QNX Software Systems has licensed its software technology for more than 17 million in-vehicle systems worldwide, including digital instrument clusters, handsfree systems, multimedia head units, connectivity modules, 3D navigation systems, and rear-seat entertainment products.
