Nissan has announced that bookings are already open for the Nissan Leaf in Europe starting with Portugal and Ireland, and followed shortly by the UK.
In the press release, Nissan has mentioned the availability of an ‘Innovative Smartphone Connectivity‘ feature that will allow users to remotely heat or cool the interior using a mobile phone.
Whilst it is not clear if this feature will be available right from launch, such a remote control phone application would mark Nissan’s launch of telematics in Europe.
If everything goes per plan, the Leaf can give Nissan the required experience and the necessary infrastructure for a full-fledged pan-European telematics service, in time to meet the looming eCall legislation.
Bookings for the Leaf are already open in Portugal and Ireland, and will start in the UK from September.
The price after government incentives is €30,250 in Portugal, €29,995 in Ireland and £23,990 in the UK including the battery.
