Excerpts from ITWire:
Honda has chosen to include SUNA as a standard feature of its in-car satnav systems starting with the Honda Insight VTi-L hybrid. It will spread to other models over time.
Stephen Collins, Honda Australia’s general manager of sales and marketing, said “This is the first time our in-car satellite navigation systems have included live traffic information, and we see great value in being able to offer this service to our customers.
With Honda’s focus on reducing fuel consumption and maximising efficiency, this technology is a fantastic match to our new Honda Insight VTi-L.”
Adam Game, CEO of SUNA operator Intelematics Australia observed “Our partnership with Honda further extends SUNA’s presence in the in-car satellite navigation market, which has grown dramatically in 2010.”
Other manufacturers offering SUNA include Ford, Nisan, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Subaru.
It is also available on aftermarket devices including models from Alpine, Garmin, Mio, Navigon and Navman.
SUNA Traffic Channel covers metropolitan areas in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, and the Australian Capital Territory.
Data is aggregated from traffic sensors, probe vehicles, tow truck allocations, traffic cameras, and other sources of information.
