Terminal Mode renamed as ‘MirrorLink’

The Car Connectivity Consortium’s Terminal Mode 1.0.1 standard has been renamed MirrorLink 1.0.1 as part of the Car Connectivity Consortium’s new trademark branding.

The consortium, now represented by roughly 60% of the world’s automobile market share and 60% of the world’s smartphone market share, will conduct its first Car Connectivity Consortium Summit, September 29-30, 2011, at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.

A press conference at the Chicago Summit will unveil standards work and the organization’s roadmap for MirrorLink initiatives expected to significantly impact the automotive, mobile communications and consumer electronics industries.

The first MirrorLink products will be presented by multiple member companies at the IAA International Motor Show, taking place in Frankfurt, Germany, September 15-25, 2011.

The Car Connectivity Consortium will focus on developing MirrorLink solutions that allow use of mobile applications in a safe and effective manner throughout the automotive product space by providing guidelines, certification, interoperability testing and branding opportunities for future products.
