So, I have a 2012 c63 with new command here in the USA but I have an iphone4. I understand it does not work with this phone but if I have a blackberry will it work and is the Internet features activated here for US Versions?

This is a “false” video from Mercedes. The video show that you can use Comand internet funestino with iPhone.

The video contains false information! Currently Comand data connection is not compatible with iPhone!

I’m flighting with MB since June 2011 about this issue, because when I bought my new C class the dealer told me that the connecction was fine; moreover many spot from MB are showing the same but take care all of them are giving a wrong information!

I’m really surprise about this bad behavior from a serior company like MB.

Just picked up my new Benz. Explored all new options including Comand Online. Worked like a charm with my Nokia e66, but on my Blackberry Curve 8900 nothing works, whatever I try.

Any hints ?

The Question is, if you took delivery prior to the “Apps” being available as an option on the car purchase sheet, where can you go to pay the 150 Euro, to get it installed? Already have all of the other necessary requirements, just need a dealer to install the software on my 2011 X5 Diesel

rvvignau, suppliers don’t decide the location of the infotainment/navigation system in the vehicle or the design of the dash board, instrument panel, or center console. That’s done by the automaker.

When will suppliers learn that the display of navigation systems should be in easy sight for a driver and not low in the console. Safety while driving is ignored with systems as shown in the picture.

just waiting in my new c class…had a good play with the comand unit while i had test car…even the new BT Sap module next year wont work with iPhone as it doesn’t support SAP…phone, music etc all work great with 3GS though

In fact it impact developments made with QT, since the future of Qt is not anymore linked to tyzen.
There will be no MeeGo 1.3, MeeGO 1.2 will get end of life in the near future I guess.
Having a look to limo architecture, HMI framework is based on GTK and Enlightment on top of X11. Running QT should not be an issue even if it is not aligned with the roadmap.

My concern is about the SDK, it will become a nightmare for people trying to develop on top of those solutions… at the end it will be probably a good solution but for the next months, OMG, we have to wait and see, this is risky now to start development on one technology.
Let see what genivi will say … maybe at some point they will agree to implement Android SDK on top of Genivi, just like QNX is plaing to do, but for that they will have to convince Google to get some comitment about long term support, good luck !

I heard this functionality will be released by MB oct 2012. The issue is iPhone 4 does not support the DUN bluetooth profile (dial up networking) as it only supports PAN (personal access networking) which is a 2nd generation Bluetooth profile.

I pick up my car in Nov and will be changing my phone to a crackberry which supports both ad well as advanced SMS messaging (text to speech) on the MB.

I only wish MB would also support email.

Genivi selected MeeGo IVI as the default open source distribution aligned with Genivi specifications.
Those specifications identify software components coming from open source projects, genivi projects and commercial software.
As for now Genivi is only publishing specifications and there are many commercial distribution compliant with Genivi, like Wind River PFI.
MeeGo is only one of them, freely available, and I guess Tizen could be an update.
As for now Genivi does not specify HMI or input framework, MeeGo is higly relaying on Qt, but a Genivi compliant solution can also relay on Flash, EFL, HTML5 , etc…
The only complain is in fact related to app SDK that could have been based on Qt (QT4.7 framework cover many areas, probably more than HTML5 as for now), but in fact it is not part of the specifications.
Apps using a UI will relay on dedicated Genivi flavor used by car manufacturers / Device manufacturers. Non UI apps are developed with D-BUS interfaces, so independant from HMI framework.
Advantage of Tyzen framework is linked to app SDk (HTML5 and WAC2.0)and app market infrastructure integration (Intel App UP). So it is maybe just in time to be proposed as SDK and market specification example for 2012 timeframe in Genivi…

To my opinion, from a Genivi point of view I think this announcement has no big impact.

Mercedes-Benz come in 2012 with a new SAP cradle for the I-phone, if you buy that one then is it possiple to use your I-phone for the online function

Just purchased C Coupe with command & yes the command DOES NOT support iPhone 4 to provide internet service.
Mercedes advertising has a lot to answer for and they are proud to announce internet access from your car but Failed to mention that the most popular phone in the world
“Connected phone does not support data communication”
Not sure of my next move — return the car & ask for money back perhaps

I have just ordered a C200 CDI estate with COMAND Online. I have an iPhone 3GS (for now). Will this work with my iPhone? If not, is Mercedes going to give us a software update for free when the problem has been resolved??

Good point, but BMW’s services are offered only in a few countries. EC’s Public eCall is Pan-EU, which means the infrastructure should be in place across all countries for cars to send out the distress signal in the right format to the correct PSAP who can then dispatch emergency services. Easier said than done! Will be interesting to see how Ford will position its planned ‘Emergency Assistance’ feature…

Comand 4.5 has no problem loading your contacts from the iphone 4 to the Comand system. If you have a car with the new color dashboard and an SD slot on the radio volume panel instead of a wide slot, then you have comand 4.5.

I am just about to buy a c class 250 sport estate with command on line. Will my current IPhone 3GS work with the internet. I am also due to change my phone in Jan 2012 and was looking to get the IPhone 5 if launched by then. Now having doubts because of the problems with IPhone 4. Can anyone recommend whoich phone works with the new Command internet
I must say I find it rediculaous that a company such as Mercedes have launched a product which will not work with what is one of the top smart phones.

I too believe this report to be false. They may have accessed the network but not the individual telematics modules. The AAA_SSD and HA_SSD and AKEY and PS Keys could not all have been hacked…..
