Italvolt will build the first Gigafactory in Italy, destined to become at the same time the largest in Europe and the twelfth in the world by size, with 300,000 m2 planned and an initial capacity of 45 GWh, which could reach 70 GWh. With an estimated 4,000 workers employed and a total of 10,000 new jobs created, the Italvolt Gigafactory will represent one of the most important industrial projects in recent years in Italy, for a total investment of approximately 4 billion euros. The first phase of the project will be completed by spring 2024.

The new plant will be able to contribute with its own production, in a significant way, to the growing demand for batteries in Europe, largely coming from the automotive industry, which by 2030 will increase globally by 17 times to about 3,600 gigawatts. (GWh), with an expected demand from the European Union of 565 GWh, behind only China, with an expected demand of 1,548 GWh.
