Audi introduces the updated A8 with enhanced technology and features.
The new A8’s MMI touch response operating concept relies on a pair of displays (10.1-inch and 8.6-inch) and natural voice operation, activated with the ‘Hey Audi’ voice command. The completely digital Audi virtual cockpit, with an optional HUD, completes the concept and emphasizes the orientation to the driver, with important information displayed in their line of sight.
Audi’s MMI Navigation Plus comes as standard in its new A8. The system is supported by the third generation modular infotainment toolkit (MIB 3). Audi connect’s standard online and Car-2-X services further enhance the system. They are divided into two premium packages: Audi connect Navigation & Infotainment, and Audi connect Safety & Service with Audi connect Remote & Control.
The new A8 also features a pair of displays for rear seat passengers. The 10.1-inch HD displays are attached to the backs of the front seats and can display content from passengers’ devices. They can also receive numerous audio and video streams through casting from well-known streaming platforms or TV media libraries.
The vehicle’s Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System brings 3D sound to the back seat through a 1,920 Watt amplifier that drives 23 speakers. The tweeter lenses can be operated electrically from the instrument panel. The rear seat remote, mounted to the center armrest, allows for many comfort and infotainment functions to be controlled.
In European markets, the enhanced Audi A8 will launch in December. In Germany, the base price for the A8 will be €99,500. The Audi S8 will start at €144,800.
