Polestar has released a new teaser image of Polestar 3, it’s electric performance SUV, which is set to launch in 2022. It is the OEM’s first SUV and will be its first vehicle to be built in the U.S. Production will take place at Volvo’s assembly factory in Charleston, South Carolina.

This news follows Polestar’s September announcement of its intention to list on Nasdaq through its proposed business combination with Gores Guggenheim, which is expected to close in the first half of 2022.

The OEM has said that it’s new EV is expected to provide consumers with a climate-responsible driving option as well as autonomous driving functions. These functions will be made possible through a combination of a Luminar LiDAR sensor alongside centralized NVIDIA computing power.

As well as unveiling the 3, Polestar also announced its plan to launch one new car annually over the next three years – starting with the 3 – and expand its presence to 30 global markets by the end of 2023.
