Polestar has begun rolling out a performance-oriented over-the-air software upgrade for the long range dual motor version of its 2 EV. The upgrade, available to owners in select European markets, is the first from the OEM to focus on the tuning of its EVs.
For €1,000, the upgrade adds 50 kW and 20 Nm to the Polestar 2’s powertrain, providing users with a total maximum power output of 350 kW (476 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. The upgrade also facilitates an reduced 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint time, which measures at 4.4 seconds.
Eligible Polestar customers can upgrade their EV through the Polestar Extras web shop. Here, customers can purchase and download the upgrade as a software download that is delivered remotely to their Polestar 2 over the air.
The Polestar performance software upgrade is available now in the following markets: UK, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Finland, Denmark, Germany, and Austria. The OEM confirmed that availability for other regions will be confirmed in the future, while availability for the U.S. and Canada is expected in Spring 2022.
