Hertz has announced a new global partnership with Polestar that will see the firm purchasing up to 65,000 EVs from the OEM over the next five years. Polestar’s EVs will be available for rental through Hertz from Spring 2022 in Europe, and late 2022 in North America and Australia.

The partnership works to support Hertz’s goal to lead in electrification and shared mobility, while also providing a digital-first customer experience. Likewise, the announcement follows a similar partnership with Tesla revealed in October 2021 – spearheading the firm’s vision to offer the largest EV rental fleet in the North America region. In addition to making the fleet available to its business and leisure customers, Hertz is extending EVs to rideshare drivers as a way to further accelerate EV adoption.

Hertz will initially order the Polestar 2, the OEM’s liftback, which features Android Automotive OS with built-in apps and services from Google.
