Hyundai Mobis has developed a 5G communication module for automotive use, through which it aims to bring about future mobility services.

The module is based on 5G mobile connectivity that works to provide ultra-high-speed connections, ultra-low latency, and hypoconnectivity. Through its large-volume data processing and real-time connection capabilities, the module will help Hyundai Mobis achieve its goal to advance vehicle connectivity. Facilitating the module’s operations is a communication chip, memory, an RF circuit, and GPS. In the future, the company intends to use this technology in the telematics service for 5G-connected vehicles.

Through its solution, Hyundai Mobis is targeting a range of transport applications to help enhance vehicle safety and convenience for drivers. Among these use cases are sensor-data sharing between vehicles, automatic deceleration in school zones, and vehicle control in emergencies.

Hyundai Mobis intends to reach the global audience with an integrated solution based on V2X communication technologies and its proprietary 5G communication systems. The company confirmed that the 5G module is still in the early stage of development, and has been categorized as a technology that will support the future of mobility.
