Toyota has revealed the 2023 Prius, which offers a larger engine and a revised hybrid powertrain. When it arrives at the OEM’s dealerships in January 2023, the new Prius will be offered in three grades – LE, XLE, and Limited. All models will offer customers a choice between Front- and All-Wheel Drive, and utilize the second-generation TNGA-C platform. Pricing will start at $27,450 for the LE grade, excluding dealer processing and handling fees.

Across all grades, a new multi-information display is mounted directly in front of the driver to minimize distractions. A standard 8-inch, or available 12.3-inch, multimedia touchscreen is mounted within reach. Offered with the vehicle’s hybrid system is a dedicated EV mode, which allows the vehicle to be operated as a pure electric vehicle for short distances, depending upon certain conditions, such as the battery charge level.

All 2023 Prius models will also have the opportunity to access a variety of connectivity and convenience features, including OTA updates. Also offered as standard are six USB-C ports, an electronic parking brake, and a Blind Spot Monitor system with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Optional features include Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.

The XLE grade builds on the LE grade with standard 19-inch alloy wheels and a standard adjustable, heated, SofTex driver seat. Available features include a 12.3-inch high-resolution touchscreen display, a fixed glass roof and Toyota’s Digital Key system.

The Limited trim offers the LE and XLE’s standard features in addition to a standard 12.3-inch JBL Premium Audio touchscreen display, the Digital Key (as part of a free one-year trial to Toyota Remote Connect) and more. Available technologies on this grade are a Panoramic View Monitor, Digital Rearview Mirror, heated rear seats, and the Advanced Park feature.

Users can interact with the system through a series of touch and voice activation controls. With the available Drive Connect feature package, users can benefit further from access to Intelligent Assistant, Cloud Navigation and Destination Assist (Active Drive Connect trial or subscription required).

With the Intelligent Assistant, the ‘Hey Toyota’ voice command awakens the system that can recognize similar voice-activated commands that search for driving directions, find Points of Interest (POI), adjust audio controls, change the cabin temperature and more. Cloud Navigation is the available onboard navigation solution that utilizes the cloud to download the latest available map, traffic and routing information. To ensure the most up-to-date search capabilities, POI search is provided by Google Points-of-Interest data. Destination Assist also gives access to 24/7 live agent assistance to locate the user’s next destination.

The new Toyota Audio Multimedia system allows for two phones to be connected via Bluetooth simultaneously, with support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto offered as standard. A standard one-month trial to Wi-Fi Connect offers 4G connectivity for up to five devices, while enabling a new Integrated Streaming feature. Through it, customers can link their separate Apple Music and Amazon Music subscriptions to the vehicle for onboard control.

Further functionality is facilitated through the Toyota smartphone app, which enables Remote Connect capabilities for the new Prius. These capabilities are offered in a one-year trial for the XLE and Limited grades. With Remote Connect, users can activate the headlights, lock/unlock the doors and remotely start the vehicle through their phone. They can also check the vehicle status, receive reminder notifications and set Guest Driver Alerts. Remote Connect also hosts the Digital Key, which operates in a similar fashion.

Each Prius packages a variety of safety features through a ten-year Safety Connect trial – including an Emergency Assistance Button (SOS), 24/7 Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Locator and Collision Assistance. The trial also allows drivers to receive Vehicle Health Reports, Maintenance Alerts and reminders.
