Porsche has opened its fifth Charging Lounge in Hamburg-Rahlstedt, Germany. Adjacent to the Porsche Approved Service Center, and close to the A1 motorway, this location opens the OEM’s growing network of dedicated charging stations up to north Germany and tourists journeying to and from the Baltic Sea.
At the facility, all Porsche vehicles can be charged with electricity from renewable sources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This electricity is sent to four fast-charging stations offering up to 400 kW DC, allowing a current-generation Taycan, for example, to be charged from 10 to 80% in 18 minutes.
This latest opening follows the launch of Porsche’s other charging lounges in Germany, located in Bingen am Rhein, Estenfeld (near Würzburg), and Ingolstadt, as well as its lounge in Koblach, Austria. Outside, the new station offers seating with recessed speakers, coffee, soft drinks, snacks, a water dispenser, and a sanitary room, as well as high-performance Wi-Fi.
For its exclusive fast-charging stations, Porsche has developed a modular concept that pairs the design language of its Charging Lounges with a design adapted to the respective property shape, with flexible extensions also possible.
The stations themselves can be located by Porsche customers through both the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system, and within the My Porsche smartphone app. The only requirement for entry is a Porsche ID with a linked license plate that can, itself, be saved in the My Porsche app.
Upon approaching a Charging Lounge, a license plate recognition system detects the vehicle and opens the barrier automatically. At the same time, a Porsche Charging Card or QR code created in the My Porsche app can also be used. Once the driver finishes charging their vehicle, billing is handled centrally through the Porsche Charging Service, although payment is also possible ad hoc.
