IONITY, a charging network joint venture between BMW Group, Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Group, Mercedes-Benz, and the Volkswagen Group, has opened its largest EV high-power charging (HPC) site in the UK at the DoubleTree by Hilton Dartford Bridge hotel.

Offering more than 24 ultra-rapid, 350 kW chargers, the new charging hub also represents the launch of IONITY’s partnership with Henderson Park (an international private equity real estate firm) to introduce this infrastructure across more sites in its Hilton Double Tree Hotel portfolio.

Here, the aim is for the Dartford Bridge hotel to be the first of six Doubletree locations to receive these chargers with branches in Newbury, Coventry, Bristol, Edinburgh Airport, and Glasgow to follow. Once fully rolled out, the locations will altogether share 104 public rapid chargers for customers to access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These stations are, together, powered with fully renewable energy, sourced from wind, solar, or hydroelectric power.

This new partnership is part of IONITY’s broader plan to treble the number of publicly available charging stations in the UK by the end of 2025, while also supporting the government’s goal of ensuring 80% of all new cars sold by 2030 are electric. The company’s charge points, including the newly launched units at the DoubleTree hotel, can be located using the Zapmap mobile app (available for iOS and Android devices) or Zapmap’s online web map, where customers can view the live status and availability data of chargers across the IONITY network. The app, through its Zap-Pay functionality, can also be used to pay for IONITY charging sessions.
