WirelessCar, a connected vehicle services provider, has partnered with Blink Charging (an owner, operator, provider and manufacturer of EV charging equipment and services), and ChargeHub (an EV roaming hub operating across North America), to launch a new ‘Seamless Charging’ pilot program in the United States and Canada.

Through the initiative, the three companies are aiming to make the EV charging experience faster, easier, and more accessible for drivers across the North America region. Here, they cited the complexities of the contemporary charging experience, such as the variety of apps, tags and cards used to carry out charging that, in some cases, can make the process less convenient than refueling an ICE vehicle.

In removing these barriers, the Seamless Charging initiative offers a simple, single-app, signup. By leveraging an advanced connected services feature, it will allow EV drivers to plug into a Blink-owned charger without the need to log into several apps, or manage multiple accounts. After carrying out a one-time registration within the ChargeHub app, and activating Seamless Charging, the companies say that EV drivers will simply plug in at any Blink Charging Station and walk away.

Powered by connected vehicle data and events, Seamless Charging is a WirelessCar offering that aims to simplify public charging, particularly for EV drivers without access to at-home charging infrastructure. The solution utilizes information shared by both the vehicle and the charging provider. Once the EV itself is plugged in, the driver is notified that charging has begun automatically, and without cards, apps, or additional steps.
