HERE Technologies, a location data and technology platform provider, has announced the launch of its new Advanced Real-Time Traffic service.

The new service provides detailed information about turn lane congestion on arterial roads and speeds on roads with high-occupancy vehicle lanes. It also introduces new lane-level information, and expands inner-city coverage, to help drivers reach their destinations easier and more efficiently.

It also provides accurate speeds on arterial lanes with congestion at intersections alongside the different speeds on roads with high-occupancy vehicle lanes (in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the USA). This gives drivers the chance to make informed decisions about the best routes for their journeys. It includes granular traffic coverage in more than 100 cities worldwide across all street types.

HERE’s Advanced Real-Time Traffic service is an expansion of its standard real-time traffic service that delivers up-to-date information on the traffic flow and road incidents that can cause delays. It enables the display of traffic conditions on highways and arterials, and supports traffic aware routing for optimal ETA calculations.

Both the standard and advanced versions of the service are available in more than 70 countries worldwide, covering more than 13 million kilometers (8 million miles) of roads in total. They are both based on billions of anonymized GPS data points gathered by HERE every day, leveraging over 150 probe data providers and more than 100 incident sources to do so. Additionally, the provider’s traffic services integrate rich sensor data from millions of connected cars around the world.
