Lexus has detailed the technologies and services featured in its 2023 LS 500 sedan, including a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen and dual Bluetooth connectivity as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities. For 2023, the model provides an enhanced multimedia system equipped with a voice assistant, Wi-Fi Connect, Service Connect, and Safety Connect trials.
The brand confirmed that the vehicle would start at $77,535, while the 2023 LS 500h with Lexus Teammate will have an MSRP of $113,435. Both versions are expected to arrive in dealerships in late 2022.
Inside the new model, the Lexus Interface multimedia system hosts the vehicle’s large touchscreen display – which itself features a higher resolution and anti-glare technology. Users can interact with the system through touch controls and voice activation commands. The infotainment system incorporates a voice as standard, accessible by pressing a button on the steering wheel or the ‘Hey Lexus’ voice command.
When activated, the assistant allows users to interact with the multimedia system through similar voice commands. In enabling a voice-first approach, the system integrates dual microphones, enhanced noise-cancellation, seat detection, and speaker location abilities. Together, these provide front seat occupants with an expanded, interactive, experience – allowing access to media, phone, and vehicle settings such as climate control.
Safety Connect and Service Connect, a suite of services that help drivers stay secure while on the road, are available as part of a 10-year trial. With a Drive Connect trial or subscription, drivers and passengers can access Cloud Navigation, Destination Assist and the Intelligent Assistant features.
The cloud navigation offered through the package provides real-time traffic and routing information as well as Points of Interest (POI). To ensure the system’s search capability is up-to-date, Google POI data is integrated. The Destination Assist allows users to benefit from a 24/7 live agent assistance that helps them locate the next destination.
Intelligent Assistant expands upon the standard Voice Assistant capabilities offered in the new LS 500. Here, convenience features such as weather and location-based notifications are accessible – including address and POI search with navigation. With a Wi-Fi Connect trial or subscription, Integrated Streaming offers integrated audio streaming functionality.
