Volkswagen has confirmed that the GTX versions of its ID.7 and ID.7 Tourer EVs will be available to order from August 1, with prices starting at £61,980 ($79,546 / €73,615) for the ID.7 GTX, and £62,670 ($80,395 / €74,432) for the ID.7 GTX Tourer.

While both GTX models are equipped with the same 86 kWh battery seen in the ID.7 Pro S Match derivatives, a new front motor enables a power increase of 53 hp (41 kW), bringing the total power up to 335 hp (250 kW). This new motor also facilitates the availability of Volkswagen’s 4MOTION AWD system on the ID.7 and ID.7 Tourer for the first time.

Volkswagen has said that the new ID.7 GTX is currently its most powerful EV, capable of powering from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds, while the ID.7 GTX Tourer completes the same sprint in 5.5 seconds. Their range capabilities see the ID.7 GTX offer up to 366 miles (589 km) on a single charge for the ID.7 GTX, and 359 miles (577 km) for the ID.7 GTX Tourer. Both cars offer the same charging capacity, up to 200 kW DC, allowing the battery level to be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in 26 minutes.

The new models likewise share the same luxury and equipment enjoyed by existing ID.7 drivers. At the same time, their enhanced specification over the Pro Match trim adds 20-inch Skagen alloy wheels, GTX exterior styling, ventilated and heated massage seats in the front and heated rear seats, a Harman Kardon sound system and Volkswagen’s DCC adaptive chassis control system complete with driving profile selection.

Other standard features include IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights with illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear, unique GTX daytime running lights, an AR HUD, GTX-specific interior styling and Volkswagen’s IDA voice assistant with integrated ChatGPT. Among the optional features available for both models is Park Assist Pro, which lets drivers control parking procedures using their smartphone.
