Stellantis has announced that a selection of its dealers across Europe will begin taking orders for Leapmotor EVs ahead of their arrival in the region later this year. The corporation highlighted that this launch of dealer orders represents a key step in the growth of Leapmotor International, a 51:49 joint venture between Stellantis and Leapmotor.

Through their JV, the companies are aiming to grow global sales of high-tech, cost-efficient, Chinese new energy vehicles (NEVs) outside of Greater China. Its launch in Europe comes one year after it was formed, concurrent with Stellantis investing €1.5 billion (£1.2 bn / $1.6 bn) to acquire approximately 21% of Leapmotor, itself.

Initially, Leapmotor’s vehicles will be sold in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxemburg, Malta, The Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK. Following its launch in these countries, Leapmotor International plans to expand distribution to the Middle East & Africa (Israel and overseas French territories), Asia Pacific (Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia and Nepal), and South America (Brazil and Chile) regions from Q4 2024.

Leapmotor International will bring two Leapmotor EVs to Europe, the T03 and the C10. The T03 presents a 5-door A-segment compact car with 265 km (164 miles) of range, and the interior space of a B-segment. Available today, the T03 will start from €18,900 (£15,733 / $20,965). The C10 is a D-segment SUV with 420 km (260 miles) of range, enhanced safety, an intelligent user experience, and premium comfort. Built on Leapmotor’s proprietary LEAP 3.0 architecture, the EV is equipped with a centrally integrated electronic configuration, the Cell-to-Chassis system, and a smart cockpit. Stellantis confirmed that the Leapmotor will be available from €36,400 (£30,302 / $40,378) and arrive at select European dealerships in October 2024.

Together, both EVs offer advanced electric technologies and aim to balance performance, efficiency, safety, and range with affordability – facilitated by Leapmotor’s in-house engineering capabilities and vertical integration. Following the rollout of the T03 and C10 models, Leapmotor International expects to launch a new vehicle each year for the next three years.

Leapmotor International is ultimately targeting Chinese brand vehicles with its offerings. In launching Leapmotor’s vehicles in Europe, Stellantis is aiming to complement and broaden its brand portfolio to cover a full range of customer needs and price points. In addition to this launch, Stellantis is maintaining its commitment to an “asset-light” business model for its foreign brands in China.
