Polestar has announced the addition of 2,754 new charging points to its subscription-based charging discount service, Polestar Charge, in the UK.
The automaker confirmed that, across its active European markets, these new additions bring the total number of charging points included in the service to more than 62,000, a figure itself spread across 41 charge operators. Altogether, the standard Polestar Charge offering now provides subscribers with direct access to over 900,000 individual charging points that aim to facilitate seamless, convenient, public charging experiences.
At all 5,854 UK charging points registered on Polestar Charge, including the newly added chargers, subscribers will be able to benefit from a 30% discount on charging costs. Polestar highlighted that six UK charging point operators are included in the subscription: IONITY, Sainsbury’s, Instavolt, MFG, Fastned, and Applegreen.
While highlighting the extension of Polestar Charge in the UK, the OEM also noted a similar growth in its active European markets. Here, the total number of charging points included in the improved Polestar Charge subscription service has increased by 54%. This increase saw the addition of 21,000 new charging points to the service for a new total of 62,000, with this total spread across a mix of large international and more local providers in each market.
Alongside these new additions, Polestar emphasized that the core benefits of Polestar Charge will remain available to subscribers. Through it, the OEM is ultimately aiming to offer drivers a more convenient solution for finding, accessing, and paying for public charging, while reducing the need for additional subscriptions, apps, authentication methods or charging tags. The service benefits further from the EV optimisation function found within Google Maps, offered in many Polestar EVs through Google built-in, that helps users plan optimal charging stops along a selected route.
