Volkswagen has announced that, for select models, its in-vehicle gaming offering will now include PAC-MAN Championship Edition.

Available through the optional AirConsole In-Car App, users will be able to play the newly added game on the infotainment display when their vehicle is parked, with a smartphone (paired to the AirConsole app) serving as the controller. During gameplay, the vehicle’s background lighting, and for compatible ID. models the optional ID. Light, will illuminate in response to the game content and inputs by the players.

The PAC-MAN Championship Edition, itself, retains the well-known and popular game principle from the 1980s: PAC-MAN eats dots in a labyrinth while trying to avoid being caught by ghosts. Once all these dots have been eaten, the next level begins.

In the in-vehicle version of the game, icons for the bonus points and power pellets have been redesigned with Volkswagen theming. If Pac-Man ‘eats’ a silhouette of the Bettle, VW Bus and Golf IV R32, or symbols of the GTI, GTX, R, and Volkswagen wheel rims, more points are awarded. The Volkswagen brand logo also appears as a power pellet icon in the game, which temporarily provides the user with the ability to defeat the ghosts.

The AirConsole platform which hosts the new Pac-Man game allows drivers to access a range of videogames from inside their vehicle tailored to casual players of all ages. Today, AirConsole is available for download on Volkswagen’s In-Car Shop in many European countries for owners of the ID.7, ID.5, ID.4 and ID.3 models (from ID. Software 4.0), alongside the Tayron, Tiguan, Passat, Golf Variant and Golf models from model year 2025.

To play games on AirConsole, the user must have a Volkswagen ID user account, an active VW Connect Plus contract, and an active internet connection on their smartphone.
