Polestar has announced that the updated Polestar 2 will be priced from $49,900 (€45,979) in the U.S. and begin customer deliveries in August 2023.

Both the single motor and dual motor variants of the 2024 model will feature enhanced range, new motors, improved performance, and a broader array of standard equipment. The Volvo Cars brand confirmed that its new EV would also be eligible for the IRA Clean Vehicle credit of $7,500 (€6,910) on lease transactions.

The newest Long range Single motor Polestar 2 features standard equipment and faster charging – now at a maximum capacity of 205 kW on DC. Included now as standard, for all variants, are the Blind Spot Information System with steer assist, Cross Traffic Alert with brake support, park assist sensors, 360-degree cameras, and auto-dimming door mirrors. For these variants, the estimated maximum driving range has increased to 320 miles (514 km), and now features a rear-wheel drive configuration, as well as an all-new motor capable of producing 299 hp (219 kW) of power.

This premium feature package includes Pilot Assist driver assistance aids, Adaptive Cruise Control, Emergency Stop Assist, Rear Collision Warning and Mitigation, and LED front fog lights with cornering function. The variant also offers a rear-biased drivetrain and a new asynchronous rear motor that increases its overall power output to 421 hp (309 kW) with 546 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque. This drivetrain likewise increases the EV’s estimated maximum range to 276 miles (444 km), while a new front electric motor can be disengaged when not required – enhancing efficiency and extending range.

The 2024 Polestar 2’s optional features are provided through the Plus and Performance packs. The Performance pack offers various upgrades, including low-drag Brembo brakes, newly designed forged alloy wheels, Öhlins DFV (Dual Flow Valve) adjustable dampers, an uprated 455 hp (334 kW) and a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint of 4.1 seconds.
