Volvo Trucks has announced plans to launch a new, long-range, version of its FH Electric that it says will be able to travel up to 372 miles (600 km) on a single charge.

The OEM’s trucking subsidiary says this long driving range will help transport companies to operate electric trucks on interregional and long-distance routes, and allow them to drive for a full working day without the need to recharge. Volvo has confirmed that its new FH Electric will be released during the second half of 2025.

Empowering the new truck’s long range capability is Volvo’s new driveline technology, called the e-axle, which creates space for significantly more battery capacity onboard. More efficient batteries, a further improved battery management system and overall efficiency of the powertrain also contribute to the extended range.

Through the launch of its new FH Electric, Volvo Trucks is aiming to advance its sustainability goal to become a net-zero emissions company by 2040. A three-path technology approach to achieve this goal will see the company roll out new trucks built on battery electric, fuel cell electric and combustion engines that run on renewable fuels like green hydrogen, biogas or HVO (Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil).
