Hon Hai Technology Group, also known as Foxconn, has announced two new reference EVs at its fifth annual Hon Hai Tech Day. While unveiling the all-new Model D MPV and the Model U, a midi-sized electric bus, Foxconn also showcased a variant of the Model C developed by its Foxtron Vehicle Technologies subsidiary for automotive OEM customers interested in the North American market.

Based on Foxconn’s design concept of Lifestyle Multipurpose Utility Vehicle, the Model D aims to combine the advantages of vehicles found in the SUV and MPV segments. Intended as a multi-functional hybrid model, it also adopts the latest generation of Foxconn’s platform technology. Measuring 5.2 meters long, with a wheelbase of 3.2 meters, the electric MPV also aims to provide customers with a spacious, comfortable interior.

A pneumatic suspension system works to improve driving stability, while its active suspension allows the vehicle height to be adjusted by 15mm to 25mm. The Model D’s body design incorporates S-ducts and air curtains specially designed to reduce wind resistance, bringing the drag coefficient down to 0.23. Foxconn highlighted that the styling design of this new EV was a joint effort between itself and the Italian luxury design house, Pininfarina SpA.

Through the midi-sized Model U electric bus, Foxconn is aiming to continue the design language presented by its full-sized Model T electric bus launched in 2021. Designed for driving in narrow urban lanes and remote areas, the bus offers a clean and simple appearance with large windows that together work to emphasize flexibility and multi-functionality.

At the same time, its body structure and aerodynamic design have been optimized to achieve longer endurance. While sporting a moderate body size, Foxconn highlighted that its internal space can be configured to the customer’s needs. Internally, its advanced electronic control system and range of standard ADAS features that together aim to facilitate a safer, more comfortable, driving experience.

Hon Hai Tech Day also saw Foxconn reveal the North American variant of its Model C passenger EV. Created in cooperation with the OEM’s American partners, the variant is expected to enter mass production by the end of 2025. The variant maintains the simple, new-generation, family design of the original model while expanding the S-duct design, adding a new steering wheel, and launching a new UI design.
