Nissan has launched the Nissan Energy Charge Network, its new proprietary charging network that will allow owners of its Ariya EV, and its future all-electric models, to use the MyNissan mobile app to find charging stations, assess charger availability, and pay for charging sessions.

In extending the functionality of its mobile app, itself available for iOS and Android devices, Nissan is aiming to simplify EV ownership by consolidating vehicle management and public charging into a unified experience. Through the app, users can enable automated charging payments by registering a default payment method and then, at a compatible charging station, tap an on-screen button to start a charging session within the Nissan Energy Charge Network. The OEM says that this feature will initially be available to its customers in the U.S., and launch by November 2024

Nissan’s new charging network will encompass more than 90,000 fast chargers across the United States. Among the partners supporting the network are Electrify America, alongside the Shell Recharge branded network, ChargePoint, and EVgo – with plans to incorporate additional networks in the future.

While launching its new charging solution, Nissan also announced plans to launch a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter for the Ariya. With the adapter, Ariya owners will now be able to charge the electric SUV at compatible Tesla Supercharger locations Following the rollout of this adapter, Nissan will launch EVs for the U.S. and Canadian markets that offer a NACS port as standard.
