Renault has revealed that its upcoming, all-electric, Renault 5 E-Tech model will be priced from £22,995. Orders books for the EV, a modern reimagining of the original Renault 5, will open in January 2025. At launch, the new Renault 5 will be available in three trim levels – evolution, techno, and iconic five, and two powertrains – a 120hp urban range option, and a 150 hp comfort range option.
The Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric offers a broad suite of technologies, from Google built-in services with EV-optimised navigation, to bi-directional charging functionalities including vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities. With a choice of two battery sizes and a heat-pump as standard, the EV offers a driving range of up to 248 miles and can recoup 80% of its battery capacity in 30 minutes.
Inside, a two-tier padded dashboard accompanies dual horizontal screens; a central 10.1-inch multimedia display, powered the OpenR Link system with Google built-in, and a full-color, digital instrument panel (with a 7-inch display on the evolution trim, and a 10-inch display on both the techno and iconic five).
Up to 25 advanced driver safety assistance systems are available, including Rear Occupant Safe Exit Alert, an Active Driver Assist combining Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and lane centering assist, as well as blind spot monitoring and hands-free parking. A new feature called My Safety Shield allows drivers to activate their preferred advanced driver safety assistance systems at the touch of a button.
While a precise release date has not yet been confirmed for the Renault 5 E-Tech, the OEM expects demonstrator vehicles to be available for test drives from March 2025, with the first customer deliveries expected to follow shortly afterwards.
