Following the launch of its new brand identity, Jaguar has revealed the Type 00, its latest EV that embodies the OEM’s creative philosophy of ‘Exuberant Modernism’. The EV, positioned by Jaguar as a design vision concept, was unveiled at Miami Art Week in South Florida.
Within the concept’s name, ‘Type’ is a nod to the brand’s history through models like the E-type, while the two zeroes represent the vehicle’s zero tailpipe emissions, and the concept itself being ‘car zero’ in Jaguar’s new lineage. The EV is built on a new architecture, Jaguar Electrical Architecture (JEA), that was developed from the ground-up to enable the concept’s design while facilitating enhanced handling and ride comfort. For future Jaguar models, the OEM highlighted that a mix of new electrification technologies and forward-thinking designs will help them stand out within the broader EV market.
The first of these new models will be a four door GT that will be revealed in late 2025. Among the first details of this model shared by Jaguar included its maximum range, up to 478 miles (770km) on the WLTP scale or 430 miles (692km) EPA, and that it will be produced in the UK. The GT will also be able to replenish up to 200 miles (321 km) of range within 15 minutes on a rapid charger.
Reflecting the introduction of the E-type at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show, the Type 00 reveal in Miami showcased two of the concept models in contrasting colours. The first was a Satin Rhodon Rose example, dubbed ‘Miami Pink’ in honour of the pastel colours of the city’s Art Deco architecture, which was joined by an Inception Silver Blue model. Dubbed ‘London Blue’, the colour is inspired by the Opalescent Silver Blue of the 1960s and reflects Jaguar’s British heritage.
Inside the Type 00, occupants can Occupants can tailor the cabin to suit their mood using a dedicated Prism case. Through it, Jaguar is aiming for occupants to engage with the concept and extend the scope of it’s customization and personalization capabilities. It stows behind an exquisitely engineered powered door on the bodyside and contains three totems of natural materials – Brass, Travertine and Alabaster.
Placing one of these totems inside the centre console tailors the mood of the interior. Changes in the cabin, including the ambient lighting, soundscape and UI, reflect the properties of the user’s chosen material alongside a bespoke scent. The Type 00’s display setup, consisting of two separate screens located behind the wheel and on the passenger side, takes a similarly artistic approach. Here, animations are formed through the creative technique of ‘Chiaroscuro’, where light and shadow is used to define three?dimensional objects.
The full reveal of the Type 00 concept follows JLR’s recent rebranding of the Jaguar vehicle brand, which was more broadly showcased at Miami Art Week across two gallery spaces. Here, it it presented ‘Jaguar. Exuberance.’, an immersive exploration of its dramatic new visual language featuring original works by British artists. Then, at the fashion and architectural playground of Miami Design District, Jaguar unveiled its ‘Copy Nothing’ installation for the public global debut of Type 00.
