BYD has announced a new partnership with the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will place from July 11 to 14 in the UK. At the event, the OEM will have a stand where visitors can explore the latest, upcoming EVs and technologies from BYD and its high-end EV sub-brand, Yangwang.

BYD will showcase its all-new Seal U DM-i, a five-seater plug-in hybrid SUV, equipped with its Super DM (Dual Mode) Technology in Europe. Targeting families through its enhanced space and comfort, the SUV leverages intelligent PHEV technologies to prioritize electric power – supporting energy efficiency, low fuel consumption and overall driving performance. Alongside this, BYD’s Atto 3, Dolphin and Seal models will also be on display, through which the OEM intends to showcase the diversity of its EV line-up. The BYD Seal U DM-i itself is expected to make its UK debut in Autumn 2024.

For Yangwang, BYD will use Goodwood to unveil and showcase the brand’s new off-roader, the U8, and supercar, U9. The Yangwang U8 features technologies such as the e? Platform and the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System, which together elevate the U8 Premium Edition’s off-roading capabilities. Its unique features include VOT function (Vehicle Origin Turn), tyre blowout stabilization and emergency flotation, ensuring safety and performance. The hybrid U8 boasts 1,200 horsepower (882 kw) and can sprint from 0 to 62mph (100 km/h) in 3.6 seconds.

The Yangwang U9, a high-performance all-electric supercar, offers 1,300 horsepower (956 kw), a maximum torque of 1680 Nm (1239 lb-ft), and can accelerate from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.36 seconds. This power is supported by core technologies such as the e? Platform and DiSus-X Intelligent Active Body Control System, which together provide agile, precise, four-wheel independent torque output control for enhanced safety and performance.

BYD will also be presenting the Denza D9, a premium MPV with enhanced comfort and technologies, at its Goodwood booth. The all-electric people carrier offers a 7-seat capacity (in 2+2+3 configuration), and its presence at the event also marks its UK debut. Attendees to the booth will have the opportunity to experience the MPV, and learn more about its interior and featured technologies.
